Graduate Program in Indigenous Art

The design of the master's degree program in Indigenous art is based on the underlying belief that professionals of artistic practices, research, and management in a multicultural society must be familiar with the social, cultural, and ethnic contexts of the Indigenous arts in general.

The program's objectives are to:

1. Facilitate the development of individual research projects with the training of fieldwork that contribute to the body of knowledge on the theory and practice of art appreciation, arts policy, administration, and management in an era of art of Indigenous peoples.
2. Provide opportunities for professionals to enhance their knowledge and skills or develop new careers in creativity of visual art.
3. Focus on individual studio practice, on the cultivation of a visual language, material process and conceptual approach relevant to traditions and innovation of Indigenous cultures.
4. Prepare students for professional learning experiences of art management in the visual arts, performing arts, or community arts in either the public or the private sectors.

This graduate program provides students with the advanced knowledge to become a successful art entrepreneur/ entrepreneurial artists in the arts and creative sectors. Cross disciplinary type of educational program such as formal lectures, courses, seminars, and practicum training, designed to enlighten an individual with further skills or knowledge to be applied in the art world. It draws on the knowledge and workplace experience of a talented group of academics and combines the latest thinking in arts and creative industries with the practical and specialist skills in the field.
