Overview of Undergraduate Program
Department of Arts and Creative Industries is a leading program in the nation. This bachelor program provides students with the essential knowledge and critical skills to become a successful art entrepreneur/ entrepreneurial artists in the arts and creative sectors. It draws on the knowledge and workplace experience of a talented group of academics and combines the latest thinking in arts and creative industries with the practical and specialist skills in the field. Students will gain a good understanding of the business demands of managing creative enterprises and cultural organizations within the modern globalized world.
Education and Training
There are alternative study plans in the program that allow a student to explore a particular strength. This course contains two pathways designed to assist students to develop the creative, intellectual and analytical tools necessary to build professional careers as artists, educators and managers in creative arts. The studio practice specialization is a studio based class module to provide students with the opportunity to specialize in different materials including ceramics, silver and jewelry design, natural dyeing, weaving, glass art, and performing design, in a multicultural context. The Management and Marketing specialization is a practice based module that aims to develop art business skills required to work within the art industries.
The program has been working closely with arts and creative industries and also hosts different incubation programs in the nation. Students are able to navigate internship and employment opportunities during and after complete the program. For those wish to advance a research career, the Department is also the headquarter to two graduate programs in indigenous arts and visual art education, and a continuing education program in arts and creative industries.
